Finally, he is the founder of Black and White Weekend which was created over 7 years ago as a small get together for family and friends to celebrate life and support local causes. What started as an intimate party for 150 people has grown to an annual sell out of 700 people and 120 room reservations over the course of an entire weekend. The weekend-long soiree raises thousands of dollars for charity in the process.
1 What is Black and White Weekend?
The only event of its kind in the world! The 8 th Annual Black and White Weekend( Masquerade Edition) is an incredibly fun and unique get together for 700 people from all over Central Florida and beyond for fabulous food, drinking, dancing, socializing, networking, photos, entertainment and so much more. The excitement spans two action packed days and one incredible Friday night all while supporting BASE Camp Children’ s Cancer Foundation.
2 What was your inspiration for the party?
Actually, it’ s a very personal story, but to make a very long story short, when I was 22 years old I was in the hospital for a month with a near fatal case of pneumonia. Luckily, I made it out alive. One of the major factors that contributed to my illness was stress. Since that day I promised myself I would stress less and take better care of my health. In addition, I wanted to throw a huge gathering every year for my family and friends to show them the time of their lives. These are two days out of the year that everyone can forget about their problems and enjoy their time to the fullest without any distractions. The focus is fun and nothing more!
3 What is the dress code for this event?
Guests are required to wear only black or white formal or semi-formal attire including shoes. This year’ s event is also a Masquerade Edition in which black and / or white masks are also required
4 Why did you choose the Rosen Plaza?
When I’ ve hosted these parties in the past, smaller venues would fill to capacity and the Fire Marshall would limit attendance. The Rozen Plaza has a 700 person capacity within its 3NINE and 3NINE Poolside locations and its positioned right inside of the hotel so people can reserve rooms if they get tired and / or don’ t want to drive home. It’ s an upscale venue Right in the heart of International Drive.
5 What Charity is involved with your event?
The charity is called BASE Camp Children’ s Cancer Foundation. BASE Camp provides a year-round base of support for children and families who are facing the challenge of living with cancer and other life-threatening hematological illnesses. The funds raised through this year’ s Black and White Weekend will go towards completing BASE Camp’ s Day Center Kitchen.
