“Spill the Tea” is often used as a phrase to share gossip or secrets. In today’s society,
mothers and daughters are sharing the same space, but not spilling the tea. Questions go
unanswered and topics remain taboo. Let’s Spill the Tea aims to help break the silence and open
the lines of communication on tough subjects.
Mission Statement
To facilitate “moments” that help mothers learn how to communicate effectively with their
daughters. The objective is to show mothers how to open dialogue promoting healthy
relationships. Breaking the silence within the household and opening the lines of
communication on tough subjects.
Audience
Intended for women and girls of all ethnicities; ages 14-21
Programs
90 minute sessions will be shared either through a tea atmosphere or through
workshops for mothers and their girls. Let’s Spill the Tea uses table top
questions to start dialogue on a range of situations such as social media, HIV/
AIDS, misogynistic music, drugs and alcohol, dating violence, and body image.
