Balance Is Key... by Liza McMillan God, family, football... I truly had to become the master of balancing my own life. I am many things to many people, but I needed to determine my role in the most important areas of my life. There came a time where I began to see past what my eyes could see and I began to trust and believe in my destiny. My name is Liza McMillan I am 37 years of age and I am a mother of soon-to-be three children, a wife to an amazing man and an entrepreneur.  I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years and finally decided 3 years ago, to start MUALUXE, where Beauty and Fashion collide. My company caters to all things beauty, makeup, hair, and fashion. I knew it was time to make this journey on my own as my family began to grow. I took a step of faith and believed in my gifts, zoned in on my talents and did not look back! With the support and motivation of my husband I felt even more confident in my choices. It’s never easy to step outside of your comfort zone but nothing amazing ever is! I have been behind a chair doing hair, behind a counter selling makeup, behind the scenes doing TV production and did not stop there. During my growth, I experienced working with InSTYLE and the TIMES magazines, London Fashion week, multiple celebrities and right back around to bridal and TV production, yet still the love for what I do has not subsided.  Without taking you thru the whole span of my career lets go with some highlights. In 2009 I moved to London, England to expand my career and take advantage of where life was taking me. At this time, I worked for a paramount makeup brand and thru them I was able to rapidly expand my portfolio. Getting to work with actors like James Gordan, who is now taking over America and Natalie Dormer from the hit series “The Tudors”, nothing compares to working with actor Kevin Spacey. I miss the wonders of London but my time there was limited. I missed my home here in the states and returned after a few years.  staying connected. We love going on dates together. Our alone time is precious and we fight for it. Being the wife of a former NFL player certainly has a lot to it, especially since my husband is the NFL Alumni Central Florida and North Florida Chapter President. It takes a strong, confident woman to wear my many hats and I am proud to say my hats are many. From wife, friend, lover, advisor, protector, Dr., agent, manager, motivator, confidant, secretary, stylist and the list goes on and on. I love being a wife especially to the man of my dreams. We have known each other for over 20yrs, been together for 6 years and married for 1 year. None of this would be possible without creating a balanced life with a strong faith-based foundation always leading us in the right direction.  Being a wife, a mother and having a career is possible. For me it has been crucial to know and accept where I am during certain parts of my life. There is a time and place for it all. We are strong women who are built biotically and must make ourselves a priority and this is how I live my life!  Live your life in beauty and build on the beautiful moments in life to create a life by design and not by default. Yes... it will get hard but what is the good without the bad. From the MCMILLAN family to yours... God, family, football.  Mualuxe.com Upon my return, I would reconnect with my love Seneca. We started a life together and then the time came in my life when I knew my family needed all of me and my career must take the back seat. At times that was a hard pill for me to swallow and I struggled, wondering if I was doing enough or not but I had to be confident in me, the woman God made me and recognize that I was at a very special time in my life. My oldest is nine years of age and is a true little woman. My husband and I have raised her with strength and independence with a strong work ethic and respect for others. Our little one will be four in May and is a mirror of her dad. She has a confident, free and happy spirit. We have raised her with the freedom to do as your heart calls and so she does. Then there is our little Prince who will be here in June. This news of our new addition was not a surprise as my husband and I discussed growing our family.  Seneca and I are true best friends and we felt there was too much love between us to not have one more little one. Our family brings us so much joy and is our number one priority. We believe a happy foundation at home will develop happy children. So, Seneca and I always pride ourselves in Volume 3 • Issue 2 | 2017 41
