I
I was what many would call a curious child.
Questions were on my lips every moment
of every day. Once, when my father had
enough of my incessant questioning, he
said, “if you want to know the answer to
something, look it up,” as he pointed to
the encyclopedia collection on the shelf,
and from that day on, a researcher was born.
When my mom decided to go back to
college (Touro college of law in Brooklyn) I
would go with her to class and thoroughly
enjoyed all of the “ology”, classes; psych-
ology, sociology and anthropology. My
mom graduated with her Associates and
Bachelor Degrees in Early Childhood
Development and ended up working with
her friend, Rosa Rock, mother of Chris
Rock, as a Social Worker. They inspired
me and taught me that all of my dreams
were within my reach.
I accidentally fell into Investigations be-
cause, for a long time, I considered being
a Criminal Attorney. But while working
as an Urban Park Ranger and Park
Enforcement Officer for the NYC Parks
Department, someone suggested that I
join the investigations unit as a Disciplinary

I followed in my mothers college footsteps
at first and decided later to transfer to
John Jay College of Criminal Justice,
where I majored in Criminal Justice with
a minor in Criminology. While attending
College, I worked as an unarmed Corp-
orate Security officer for Kodak film,
an armed Security officer for the Stock
Exchange, and did Loss Prevention for the
Magic Johnson Movie Théâtre. Security
work taught me about people because I
dealt with the messenger all the way up
to the CEO.
